Our Founding Story
A TIMELINE OF EXPERTISE & EXCELLENCE
EBT was founded by Mickey Thompson and Curtis Harrison in 2010, but the groundwork was laid decades before.
Both men began their careers as engineers in the 1960s. Mickey started at Rollway Bearings, later founding ADI, Inc. Curtis became the lead engineer in well service and frac pump design for The Western Company and later GeoQuip, Inc.
Their paths crossed when Mickey supplied the bearings as Curtis needed to launch a new pump design. That sale turned into a partnership and a friendship that would shape the oil and gas industry.
After brief retirements, Mickey and Curtis teamed up again in 2010 to launch EBT Bearings. Curtis brought unmatched pump design expertise. Mickey brought decades of bearing design experience. Together, they built a company committed to solving the hardest problems in the field and designing bearings to outperform under the most demanding conditions.
Another key figure soon became essential to EBT’s future:

Alan, a financial leader and comptroller at Century Reagan Equipment, met EBT through industry contacts. By June 2010, Alan had joined EBT as comptroller.
As he learned the industry, Alan noticed a recurring issue: outside factories manufacturing EBT bearings were cutting corners. Quality dropped. Standards slipped.
Alan pushed for a change, and it was pivotal. With Mickey, he developed a plan to bring bearing manufacturing under EBT’s control.
Owning the process changed everything. Every spec, every tolerance, every piece of steel now ran through EBT. Quality issues disappeared. Standards tightened.
Alan’s eye for systems, Mickey’s bearing expertise, and Curtis’s pump design knowledge built the foundation of EBT: a bearing company that designs, builds, and delivers parts that perform in the field, because failure isn’t an option.
The growth wasn’t easy or instant. Every step forward took grit. Every challenge shaped EBT into the company it is today: a team that backs its word with work and bearings that prove themselves in the field.
And the story isn’t finished… we’re still building it.
